Creating a Safe Environment for Kids to Play and Learn
It is our responsibility to create safe environments for our kids where they can play and learn. One of the challenges that we face is how to keep the kids entertained and content. In this article we will be looking at the use of play rugs and carpets as a method of creating safe, secure and entertaining play areas.
Kids carpets have improved considerably and one is spoiled for choice. The carpets and rugs that are used for kids and play areas have been manufactured in such a way that it is durable, safe for kids and easy to clean. Play carpets are available in a variety of designs, colors and shapes.
Types of Play Areas that you can Create:
The Puzzle Room
Create a fun play area with the use of puzzle rugs, kids puzzles and puzzle games. This type of play area will keep kids entertained for hours and they will learn about shapes and their hand and eye co-ordination will improve.

Church Day care ideas?
I just volunteered at our church (which is very very small) to be in charge part time in the daycare room which I suggested be started. The ages will be mixed from 2 to probably 10, so what should I plan or put in the room? I plan on some coloring books and crayons of course, a bucket of mixed age toys and a TV with a DVD player for Kids Christian Movies like veggie tales. What else can I put in there or plan to do with the kids? Is it necessary to have learning activities or crafts or can it just be basically a room for fun for the kids while service is going on?
First, you have too large a gap in age groups. Schools keep children separated for a reason. Aside from that, you need a monitor for the service or church activity so you know what is going on there, and know when to expect parents. It is also good to have a way to communicate with the usher staff if a parent is needed.
Have a soft floor. There are some colorful mats that look like puzzle pieces. Have a variety of soft toys. Have a TV so you can play videos. I would always try to teach about Jesus in every gathering. You may want to have an area for the younger ones to nap.
